In a triumph of common sense over excessive regulation, the Scottish council that this week decided to ban a young schoolgirl from taking pictures and blogging about the meals served at her school’s cafeteria has today reversed its decision. The announcement was made live on BBC Radio 4’s The World at One program, where the leader of Argyll and Bute council Roddy McCuish revealed that he has “instructed senior officials to immediately withdraw the ban on pictures from the school dining hall.” Saying that there’s no room for censorship in his council and “there never will be,” McCuish goes on to say that he’ll be meeting with the nine-year-old girl’s father next week to work out a suitable way forward.
