A close friend of mine is doing the Avon Walk For Breast Cancer In Boston this weekend, if anyone would like to donate to her team her story and the proper links are listed below. Thank You in advance.
“Last year we all suffered a devastating loss. One lost her sister, one lost her closest, dearest friend and one lost her Godmother. Thanksgiving week 2011, Yvonne Simms said that she wasn’t ready to die yet and so she fought. She fought a courageous battle with breast cancer but in the end, the disease won, taking Yvonne from us on June 20, 2012. Did you know that every three minutes someone in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer? Someone has to endure the pain and shortened life expectancy. No one should. We didn’t know about the three minute statistic, and after reading it, we were startled. After losing Yvonne, our spirits were crushed, but we were also moved to action. We decided to do something about breast cancer, to do something in Yvonne’s honor, to do something for every woman who confronts her mortality because of this insidious disease. We will take steps toward ending breast cancer by participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Boston, the weekend of May 17-19, 2013. Training for this 40-mile walk has been challenging, but we are committed to doing whatever it takes. We are IN IT TO END IT!
Our team, Walking the Walk in Memory of Yvonne Simms, needs your help in raising at least $5,400 ($1,800 per person) in donations. No amount is too small. No amount is too large. You may already know someone whose life has been touched by breast cancer. If you don’t, unfortunately you will someday. Now is the time to take action. Please consider supporting us. Your tax-deductible donation can help ensure that we can make those statistics decline and that those already suffering can get the care and treatment they need and deserve.
There are several ways to make a donation. You can donate online at our team fundraising page: http://info.avonfoundation.org/goto/walkingthewalk . You can also choose to donate to one of our individual pages (our URLs are listed below under our names). If you prefer to write a check, please call one of us (our phone numbers are below) and we will immediately mail you a donation form and stamped envelope to return your donation to the Avon Breast Cancer office. It is important you include the form in your mailing as it includes our participant numbers and that is the only way we will get credited. We also ask you to make your contribution by April 30th at the latest to assure the donation can be tallied and included in our total. The Avon Breast Cancer organization indicates that a month is needed to tally all donations. We appreciate whatever support you can offer.
Funds raised by Avon Walkers are awarded by the Avon Foundation for Women, with a focus on making sure women and men get the care and treatment they need regardless of their ability to pay and to ultimately find a cure for breast cancer. You can learn more about the Foundation at avonfoundation.org. In the time it took you to read this letter, another woman has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Please donate now to support this crusade to save lives. Thank you.”
