If you’re an avid gym rat like me, then you already know how hard it is to find good headphones. Your traditional over the ear headphones are just fine for curls, but they’ll go flying off your head during power cleans. Old-school earbuds seem the most functional solutions, and newer earbuds designed for fitness come close to perfection, but all have wires that are too easily caught against the bars and equipment during most workouts. But the quest for the perfect pair of workout headphones just may be over. Enter the Jabra Sport Pace Wireless earbuds, the latest device from headphone company Jabra.

The design is pretty nice. They have obviously been designed with fitness in mind. When you exercise, sweat is created, which can really wreak havoc on electronics. However, this isn’t the case with Jabra Sport Pace Wireless earbuds, because they have been designed to withstand the abuses that are normally associated with working out. The earbuds have a soft plastic hook that nicely wraps around the ears in order to keep them in place. They are connected by a rubberized cable that has an integrated inline remote control so that you can control audio and take phone calls.

Honestly, when it came to the sound quality, I didn’t expect all that much. To put it simply: the Sport Pace Wireless earbuds sound great. They don’t sound like wireless gym headphones, they sound like a good everyday headphones. Mind you, if you workout for more than 3 hours at a time, these aren’t good for you, because of the battery life. However, if you keep your workouts at two hours or less, these are great. The Sport Pace Wireless wasn’t too heavy on the bass, it’s not weak, but properly balanced with the highs and mids. The audio signature is on the brighter side and it’s big on treble, which means it will come down to personal preference. The Sport Pace sound fantastic—clear, crisp, and detailed, but they’re significantly better in quiet environments. At the gym, if you’re trying to block out gym music, you’ll have to turn these up. For jogging/running outside, the Sport Pace Wireless are great. They’re quiet enough so that you can appreciate your music, yet still allow you to hear your surroundings. These earbuds are water-resistant, and come with a reflective coating for added visibility at night. I like how I don’t have to worry about getting tangled up in the cords and ripping the phone out of my pocket. Plus, having inline remote controls makes it easier because I don’t have to pull the phone out of my pocket. All I have to do is click a button to fast-forward/rewind the song and to control the volume. I tested out the inline control with phone calls the other day and it performed flawlessly.

Final Thoughts
Good wireless gym headphones are still tough to find. The hardest part to get right is the fit, and the Jabra Sport Pace Wireless earbuds have one of the best fits around. It’s amazing never having to adjust your headphones, even while running. The water/sweat resistance adds great peace of mind and should definitely prolong the lifespan of the Sport Pace Wireless
