When discussing bodybuilding, everyone primarily concentrates on food but what’s about drinking water? Drinking water is just as important. Here are some important reasons why you should be drinking more water:

1. Water hydrates your body

During your workout, our body loses a lot of water. We must re hydrate our body by drinking plenty of water. Water also detoxifies your body and eliminates the toxins and other waste from your body through urine and sweat.

2.  Water increases protein synthesis

Without water, protein synthesis wouldn’t work properly. In protein synthesis, enzymes synthesize the protein and extract the amino acid. Finally, amino acids build your muscles. Without water, your digestive system would not work properly and enzymes would also malfunctioned. As a whole, water is one of the key ingredients that helps your digestive system and improve your muscle building process as well as keeping you healthy.

3. Water increases your energy level

Dehydration decreases your energy level, once you hydrate your body, you’ll get the optimum energy level. Hydrating your body results the removal of lethargic and tired feelings.

4.  Water replenishes your body

Water not only hydrates your body, it also removes toxins from your body and improve digestion. It also improves your blood circulation, clean your skin impurities and perform many other important tasks in your body.

5. Water also acts as a lubricant

During workouts and in our regular life, our joints take lots of pressure and they need to be lubricated, otherwise number of joint related issues take place. Water helps to create essential body fluid and while trying to keep your joints free from issues.

However, it is important to know the right amount of water to drink. Study shows that you should drink atleast 12 ounces of water every 30 minutes. Alternatively, some fitness instructors calculate the drinking water ratio based on the weight. The formula is simple – total amount of your weight (in lbs) X 0.6 ounces = the amount of water (ounces) that you need to drink. Finally, keep in mind that, drinking excessive amount of water can cause – Hyponatremia (commonly known as – water intoxication).
