Citrulline is, without doubt, one of the most exciting nutritional supplements on the market when it comes to exercise performance, and it is increasingly finding its way into pre-workout supplements in good quantities!
By increasing your blood levels of an amino acid called arginine, citrulline supplementation helps to boost nitric oxide production. This in turn causes greater vasodilation, which improves circulation and allows for greater blood flow to muscles during exercise. Most of the scientific research suggests that a daily serving of 3-6g of l-citrulline for a period of 7 days is enough to produce the desired results.
That means, the 4.3g dose per serving of Arez God of the gym is pretty much spot on! Whilst there is some evidence to suggest that citrulline malate is a more effective variant of this particular amino acid, we can’t really complain too much about an optimum serving of such a big hitter!
Beta alanine (3.2g)
With the exception of creatine monohydrate, beta alanine is probably the most well researched and effective nutritional supplement available. By increasing your muscles stores of something called carnosine, beta alanine supplementation helps you to buffer lactic acid during short bouts of intense anaerobic activity. Yes please!
Most studies point to a daily dose of 4-6g over a period of at least 2 weeks in order to increase carnosine levels by sufficient quantities to have a tangible performance benefit. That means the 3.2g dose per serving in this product does pull up a little short of our optimum window. Having said that, 3.2g is still very much a meaningful dose and will allow for increased stores of carnosine, just over a slightly longer period of time!
Caffeine (300 mg)
By far and away the most common stimulant ingredient to be found in pre-workout supplements, and for good reason, there is a wealth of research to demonstrate caffeine’s effectiveness for physical performance.
Not only can optimum doses of caffeine ensure you are in the right place both physically and mentally to train at 100%, but it can also help you to burn more fat during your sessions!
Most of the research suggests that caffeine is effective at doses as low as 100 mg and is safe to consume at levels as high as 400 mg per day. That means the 300 mg included in this Arez product will absolutely be of benefit to your training performance!
Whilst there are a number of other ingredients included in this product (as many as 13), there is limited, if any research into the efficacy of any of them for exercise performance, or for that matter their optimum dosages. As a result, we will not be wasting our or your time reviewing their presence!
Side effects in Arez God of the gym
There are a couple of ingredients in this pe-workout product that may result in some minor side effects.
Beta alanine normally causes a tingling sensation on the surface of the skin (particularly the face) which tends to subside after approximately 20 minutes. The good news is this symptom is completely harmless and should be taken as evidence that you are consuming a meaningful dose of beta alanine and not something entirely useless!
Caffeine, when consumed at doses as high as 300 mg, can lead to symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, the jitters and even anxiety. If you are new to pre-workout supplements, or have a low tolerance to caffeine, then we would suggest starting with a half dose of Arez in order to test your resistance levels before gradually upping your serving.

Arez God of the gym vs Titanium: what’s the difference?
There are probably two main differences between these two Arez pre-workout ranges. Titanium contains the same quantity of beta alanine, 1.3g less of l-citrulline, and 50 mg more of caffeine per serving.
That nudges the l-citrulline content per scoop down to 3g which is the absolute bare minimum as far as an effective dose is concerned. It also means Arez Titanium has a huge 350 mg serving of caffeine per scoop which puts it very close to the 400 mg upper limit per day and means this product is more likely to cause the side effects we’ve already mentioned!
With absolutely no difference in price we would definitely recommend Arez God of the gym as the more effective of the two products!

The inclusion of so many ingredients with such limited research to support their benefit for exercise performance is probably the only real major disappointment, with these ingredients taking up valuable space per scoop. Space which could have been more effectively used with higher doses of proven ingredients.
