Police say a Florida man in Boynton Beach threatened to pistol whip an L.A. Fitness trainer and pointed a 9mm Glock at him after the trainer asked him to put his weights away.
Boynton Beach Police were dispatched to the gym at 2290 N. Congress Ave. at 8:46 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a man in the parking lot with a gun.
The victim, a 43-year-old trainer, told police that he’d had an argument with Wilsly Dudley Lacroix, 25, on Monday about returning weights to the racks when he’s done lifting. He said Lacroix returned to the gym Tuesday and parked in front of the gym’s doors. He motioned for the victim to come outside and when he did he said he was going to pistol whip him. Lacroix pulled out a handgun, chambered a round and pointed it at him. The trainer ran back inside and police were called.
Given a description of the suspect and his car, an officer took him into custody 15 minutes later at his apartment at 9873 Lawrence Road.
Lacroix was jailed on a charge of aggravated assault with a firearm. Because his 2003 Chevy Impala was involved in the incident, it was seized and will be subject to forfeiture because it was used in the commission of a felony. The gun was found inside the car.
Lacroix remained jailed with a $10,000 bond Wednesday afternoon.
