A women’s breast consists of glands for secreting milk, ducts, connective tissue, lymph and blood vessels. Most of the cancer starts from the cells present in the ducts. Cancer is generally defined as the group of abnormal cells that grows in irregular pattern. Sometimes this malignant occurs in men also. Infiltrating cancer is caused when the impacted cells spread to the surrounding tissues. Malignant that is spreading from the duct to the nearby spaces, is termed as infiltrating ductal carcinomas. Other types of breast cancer are:
- Lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS)
- Invasive (infiltrating) lobular carcinoma (ILC)
- Inflammatory breast cancer (IBC)
Infiltrating cancer is otherwise called as invasive carcinoma. In the initial stage, these cancer cells grow at a rapid speed. There are many effective treatments available for treating this problem.
Symptoms and signs of breast malignant cells
In the beginning, you might notice a painless lump that is developed in and around the breast area. It is recommended to consult a doctor immediately, so that they can be treated on time.
Your doctor will find out the problem through physical examination or by mammogram. At the same time, you should also remember that, lumps in the breast part are common before the period starts. All the lumps do not trigger cancer. Other symptoms of breast malignant cells are:
- You can notice changes in the breast shape or size
- Swelling in the armpit part
- Increased warmth or redness in the affected part
- Scaling on the nipple part
- Thickening and dimpling in the skin layer
- If the nipple turns inward
These symptoms are caused not only by cancer, but also by other health condition. It is good to diagnose the issue without wasting much time.
Causes of breast cancer
A survey report says that, one in eight women is affected by this problem. There are number of factors that contribute to breast cancer. The risk of developing breast cancer increases as you get old and mainly affects women who are more than 50 years of age. Some genes are prone to contribute to breast malignant and it is also termed as gene defect.
Women who have attained their puberty before age of 12 and experience late menopause after 55 years of age are also prone for this disorder. Other factors that causes malignant in the breast are:
- Hormone replacement therapy (HRT)
- Diethylstilbestrol (DES)
- Alcohol use
- Childbirth
- Radiation therapy
Chemotherapy treatment
This method uses drugs to destroy the cancer cells present in the body. The drug is powerful enough to stop or slow down the growth of the cells and stop them from spreading and multiplying. For breast cancer treatment, several drugs are given together during chemotherapy. The drugs are given slowly in a tube which is inserted into the vein.
After the treatment, you can notice following side effect in the body such as vomiting, nausea, hair loss, tiredness, increases the risk of infection, and mouth sores. The side effect may differ from one person to the other depending upon their health condition. Likewise, everyone reacts to the chemotherapy in different ways. The side effect will gradually vanish away from your body, once the treatment is stopped. These effect occur depending upon the type of drug used and the dosage of it.
