Weight loss can actually benefit the brain, according to a new study. In fact, researchers theorize that bariatric surgery could help reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s in obese people. Past research how shown that obese people face a 35 percent higher risk of developing Alzheimer’s than people at a normal weight.
Weight loss can reverse the effects of obesity on the brain and can improve certain cognitive abilities, according to a study recently published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism. The study also showed that weight loss may help to reduce the chances of developing neurological diseases like Alzheimer’s.
